About BBSlink

BBSlink started in early 2014 with a simple goal: make it easy for SysOps to offer proper door games — without complicated onboarding or gatekeeping.

The principles

  • Free for SysOps
  • No selection criteria — if you run a compatible BBS, you’re welcome
  • Simple setup — install a client and go
  • Seamless flow — no forced splash screens or detours before the game
  • Registered/freeware/abandonware doors — no trial nags

Where it runs

BBSlink is run by a SysOp in Worcestershire, England. The game server has historically been hosted on a virtual private server in Italy with nightly backups to a separate location (France). Hosting can change over time, but the focus remains the same: reliable, 24/7 service for the community.

Compatibility

BBSlink was originally built with Synchronet in mind, but connection options exist for other BBS software too. If you don’t see your setup covered, the developer resources explain the connection flow so you can build a native client.

Quick links

BBSlink is community-run. If you’ve got ideas, scripts, or improvements, please share them — it’s how this ecosystem stays alive.

Time zone

The network has historically used US Eastern time for daily resets/events. (It’s a practical compromise for where most players tend to be.)
